MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

What is fascia?

Fascia is like a web that surrounds every organ, muscle, nerve, soft-tissue, and cell of the body.

It is connective tissue that extends from head to toe without interruption. Due to it’s whole body connectivity, trauma in one part of the body can produce symptoms in far away structures. MFR treats the whole body, not only looking at symptoms but addressing the cause!

Fascia surrounds, suspends, infuses, and protects every other tissue, muscle, bone, tendon, ligament, blood vessel and organ of the body - all the way down to the cellular level. In healthy conditions, it provides a supportive and cushioning mechanism allowing us to move safely without pain or restriction.

Fascia is the environment of each of our cells.  We have known that cells need proper nutrition and hydration, but now we understand that they also need proper biomechanical placement to function.  If the fascia is too restricted, the cells die.

We've been erroneously taught to think of ourselves as pieces and parts, individual and separate muscles each performing different actions, but science has now proven that we are a biotensegrity unit, a holistic web of tissues all working together.

Note the fluidity of the fascial fibers.  This is the ground substance of the fascia, and as releases occur, the tissues rehydrate, restoring function and glide to the system.

What is Myofascial Release (MFR)?

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a specialized form of body work recognized by the Complimentary and Alternative Medicine wing of the National Institute of Health. Myofascial Release utilizes variable and sustained pressure on the body to alleviate pain, increase fluidity of motion and improve overall function. When sustained pressure is held at least 5 minutes, the body releases Interleukin 8, a natural anti-inflammatory and cancer cell fighter.

Myofascial Release Therapy supports the understanding that the mind and body are connected. The body has the ability to remember emotions, postural positions and actions without the brain reminding it. The Fascial System flows with microscopic cells containing energy that have the ability to retain memory, our unconscious mind flows freely through our body through the Fascial System and is not limited to the brain.

Memories, both emotional and physical, can be triggered by a state of mind, context and by body position.

Fascial restrictions and traumas do not show up on MRI's, CAT scans or x-rays, so often go undiagnosed resulting in many patients suffering from physical and emotional pain.

Myofascial Release with its whole body approach treats the cause (rather an the symptom) at the deepest level.

CUPPING

A therapeutic bodywork technique employing cups to create a negative pressure, or suction, rather than compression to release myofascial adhesion and move tissue stagnation and interstitial fluids. It is a very effective form of lymphatic drainage. Cupping may be the oldest and most globally practiced medical treatment in human history. Cupping has been practiced for over 5000 years in most cultures around the world. Millions of people rely on cupping for treatment and prevention of dis-eases.

  • RELEASES RIGID SOFT TISSUE

  • DRAINS EXCESS INTERSTITIAL FLUIDS

  • LOOSENS MYOFASCIAL ADHESIONS

  • INCREASES BLOOD FLOW AND CIRCULATION

  • RESTRUCTURIZES MYOFASCIAL BANDS

  • PROVIDES EXCEPTIONAL LYMPHATIC STIMULATION AND DRAINAGE

  • ENGAGES THE PARASYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM - RELAXATION RESPONSE

  • DETOXIFYING THE TISSUES BY BRING STAGNATION TO THE SKIN LEVEL WHERE THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM CAN FLUSH IT OUT

  • ACTIVATES THE SECRETION OF SYNOVIAL FLUIDS TO RELEASE JOINT STIFFNESS

  • SOFTENS SCAR TISSUE

  • INCREASES FUNCTION IN DIGESTIVE AND RESPIRATORY SYSTEMS

FOOT DETOX ION THERAPY

The IonCleanse® system purifies and cleanses the body through the healing power of ions. Ions, because of their charge, are chemically reactive and create powerful changes. Ionic footbaths produce an abundance of the same kind of beneficial ions that you breathe on the beach or near a waterfall.

KINESOLOGY TAPING

Dr. Kenzo Kase founded this rehabilitative method in 1979.  It has since been popularized by Olympic athletes and the media. The idea is to stabilize soft tissues and joints while allowing full range of motion and adding soft tissue manipulation.  Providing pain mitigation, decompression and neurosensory input, taping is useful for treating scarring, swelling, nerve entrapment, faulty posture, myofascial pain, and more...
